I know what it’s like to be so silent that it’s like you’re invisible and then get mad at yourself for not speaking up.
Prior to my gender transition in 2012, I was the KING of invisibility. I was both afraid to stand up for what I believed in and unable to find the right words to explain what I thought, wanted or needed.
My difficulty advocating for MYSELF, never mind anyone else, led me down super destructive roads. I could have easily died more times than I can count thanks to living with someone addicted to drugs and being afraid to stand up to him or to ask for help.
But my story had a happier ending than that. Today, I’m an advocacy coach and author who uses my past pain to help other people to lose their fear, stand up for what they believe in, and make a positive impact on the world.
You don’t need to change who you are. You just need to change your mindset so that you can find quiet-friendly ways to fight for the causes you believe in.
